Get brain-fit
There's a new craze on the health horizon that I want you to consider jumping into brain fitness.
Software companies are designing programs that will become the Nautilus of brain exercises. This is especially crucial for anyone who fears Alzheimer's disease or any other treacherous form of dementia.
And who doesn't fear the loss of all those memories that make you who you are?
Already, sales of brain-fitness products have doubled in just two years, to a whopping $225 million—and they are projected to continue rising. (I know, small potatoes when compared to the pharmaceutical companies and their "blockbuster" drugs, but quite respectable in their own right.)
Smart health insurance companies see that they can get more bang for their buck by preventing brain disease rather than treating it after the fact. They're offering discounts for some of these programs to their members.
The makers of these products are getting pretty serious too, looking to provide scientific evidence that their products give you the brain power you want. While there'll be many Johnny-come-lately's—especially when they smell a profit involved. Stick with those companies who are treating this as a brain enhancement rather than just a payday.
Currently, no one knows if these programs will be able to promote long-term defense against a dementia decline, but there's anecdotal evidence from people who have used the products and experienced a difference in cognitive ability.
Many report that working on their brain health is fun. Fitness should be fun, whether it's for body or mind.
