Dear subscriber: I wrote extensively about the dangers of many sunscreen products in the July issue of Health Revelations. And as promised, I am providing you a "cheat sheet" of sunscreen chemicals that you’d do well to avoid. As I explained, you’ll want to look for sunblock products, and leave the sunscreen on the shelf. Think of the screen on your windows and doors—things can still get through (air, water, light). You want to block dangerous UV rays from getting through to your skin—and sunscreens don’t do the job. Carry this sheet with you when you go shopping for sun care products. And don’t forget to get at least 10 minutes of full-on sun exposure per day—before you put on any sunblock. Until next time, Alan Inglis, M.D. |
