The key to surviving a stroke… revealed!
This could be the future of stroke recovery — a safe, natural and inexpensive way to limit the damage, protect the brain, restore vision, and prevent disability.
And, as I’ll share you with you a moment, there’s a way you can get that protection right now… so you’re covered if you ever suffer a stroke.
But first: the breakthrough new study that has even mainstream doctors stunned.
It finds that docosahexaenoic acid, a.k.a. the omega-3 fatty acid DHA, can reverse some of the worst of the damage of a stroke by working quietly, behind the scenes, in a way no one ever expected.
DHA can cause your body to crank out a signaling molecule called NPD1 whenever it’s needed — and, as it turns out, this stuff is needed most right after a stroke.
The study finds that once activated, NPD1 helps create a protein called Iduna that’s like a “first responder.” It rushes to the scene of damaged cells, repairs DNA, and then literally reprograms those cells so they don’t die off.
The study on human retinal cells finds that the oxidative stress of a stroke appears to be the trigger. Once your body senses that damage unfolding, the NPD1 gets to work — especially if it has some DHA on hand during that “golden hour” after the stroke, or the all-important window of time for treatment.
DHA sets off a chain of events in that hour that causes your body to keep cranking out the Iduna protein for as much as six hours afterward.
That could allow more brain cells to survive, limiting the risk of disability and speech problems, and help protect the essential cells in the eye so you don’t suffer vision loss, which is a common stroke complication.
The study is making big headlines. If these results are repeated in real-world trials of human stroke patients, you can bet emergency rooms will start keeping DHA on hand.
I certainly wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the eventual outcome. The science has been pointing in this direction for a long time.
One study on mice a few years back found that high DHA intake cut stroke damage by 25 percent.
The key in that one? They had high DHA levels BEFORE the stroke.
And that’s how DHA can help you today.
No one knows when a stroke will happen. They can strike anytime, anywhere and even hit folks who think they’re healthy — but if you’re prepared for one today, you can limit the damage if you suffer a stroke tomorrow.
The best way to do that is to boost your DHA intake with a quality omega-3 supplement. Along with protecting your brain and vision in the event of a stroke, those same fatty acids can cut your risk of having one in the first place.
