What popular foods are doing to your bowels
It’s the biggest lie in the supermarket.
Many of the frozen dinners that millions of Americans sit down to nearly every night CLAIM to be healthy.
Some have “healthy” microwaved right into the name.
But they’re not healthy by any stretch – and new research shows how these convenience meals could come at a huge price.
They could lead to irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), a disorder that can not only leave you in pain and misery… but also make you scared to leave home in case “something” happens while you’re out.
Those same highly processed foods can also lead to functional dyspepsia, a condition that is essentially constant indigestion.
All from meals that are supposed to save a little time and add a little convenience to your life.
You know them. Maybe you’ve even been hoodwinked by the marketing, which makes it seem like today’s frozen dinners are healthy and meet every mainstream target for nutrition, sodium, fats, and more.
So long, Salisbury steak of the old TV dinners. Hello, peppercorn chicken breast medallions with balsamic glaze.
But don’t be fooled. Good health isn’t just about the ingredients.
It’s the amount of processing involved in turning those ingredients into a complete meal that’s ready in just 2 minutes and 30 seconds (don’t forget to stir halfway), one serving at a time.
That makes them pretty tempting for older couples and people living alone… but don’t give in to that temptation yourself.
The study out of France – where they know a thing or two about good eating – finds that eating highly processed foods regularly will increase your IBS risk by 25 percent and functional dyspepsia by 42 percent.
Those numbers could be even worse here in the United States.
In France, highly processed foods make up about 33 percent of all calories consumed. In America, that number is closer to 60 percent.
No wonder close to 45 million people are living with IBS here in the United States of Processed Foods!
Looks like this is one convenience that just isn’t worth the price at any age – and that’s true whether you have IBS or functional dyspepsia or are just looking to prevent them.
In addition to these conditions, the additives, chemicals, preservatives, flavor agents, and more all dumped into processed foods can trigger everything from migraines to allergic reactions.
If you’re facing any kind of constant or lingering problem – major or minor – and are eating processed foods, try going natural for a while. You might be surprised at how much better you feel and how quickly it happens.
