But that’s not even the worst of it, as new research reveals how women after menopause who drink diet sodas regularly have a higher risk of a stroke.
If you’re a woman between the ages of 50 and 80, drinking diet soda regularly will increase your risk of a stroke by nearly a QUARTER!
The risks don’t end there, I’m afraid—they get BIGGER:
- Drinking diet soda will increase your risk of a stroke specifically caused by a clot by nearly a THIRD; and
- It’ll increase your risk of heart disease by 29 percent!
Heart disease and stroke are two of the top five causes of death in the nation; they’re responsible for one death roughly every 40 seconds.
And some of them could be caused by the DIET soda—a supposedly SAFER option!
The study looked at diet soda overall (not the specific sweeteners used in each one). As a result, it doesn’t identify which one is responsible for the risk or which – if any – might be safer.
But let’s not kid ourselves here.
None of them are truly safe.
These chemical concoctions have been linked to everything from migraines to cancer risk.
Your best option is water filtered with reverse osmosis or a water distiller.
And if you want a little flavor that packs benefits instead of risks, drink tea. Black, green, oolong or herbal—there are hundreds of options that taste great hot or iced.
