Going under the knife
The new operation involves going into a KEY ARTERY to the stomach and dropping in a bunch of what are essentially PLASTIC BALLS to seal it off.
They’re celebrating this because severely obese patients lost 11.5 percent of their excess body weight afterward.
Notice the key word in there?
They didn’t lose 11.5 percent of their weight, which would be impressive; they lost 11.5 percent of their “excess” weight.
Given that these people were almost 150 pounds overweight, that means they were nearly 350 pounds at the start, and lost about 17 pounds by the end.
In other words, the payoff for risking going under the knife was a 17-pound loss after an ENTIRE YEAR—an extremely small amount of weight.
That’s less than a pound and a half a month – or about 5 ounces a week– and we’re supposed to be IMPRESSED by this?!?!
This is quite possibly the LEAST effective weight-loss plan on the planet.
Pick a diet – any diet, even a crummy one – and you’d lose more than that, and in a lot less time!
But you don’t have to pick a crummy diet.

This operation was supposed to be a short-cut to altering your body’s hormone response. Specifically, they’re trying to shut down ghrelin, the “hunger hormone” that signals when it’s time to eat.
And it worked… a little bit, leading to that incredibly small amount of weight loss.
But there’s a much more effective way to turn down the ghrelin signal and REALLY drop the pounds…
THREE ways, in fact:
- SKIP THE SUGAR: Nothing messes up the ghrelinresponse like SUGAR, especially processed sugars such as high-fructose corn syrup. Minimize all sugars and your appetite will normalize, making it easier to lose weight.
