What nearly every doctor gets WRONG about REFLUX
It’s an old Hollywood cliché: the guy you think is the villain is actually trying to help.
And the one who was supposedly on your side?
Well… turns out he’s the REAL villain.
It might’ve been done to death on the big screen – so much so that you can now see that “twist” coming a mile away.
But out in the real world… inside your own body… it could be happening right now!
See, if you have acid reflux, you probably think your stomach acid’s the villain.
Even many doctors believe it.
But – plot twist! – that stomach acid isn’t the bad guy after all. In fact, it’s been trying to help you all along. And the drugs used to treat it… the PPI medications (proton pump inhibitors) you may depend on… could be HURTING you in ways you won’t even recognize.
Didn’t see that one coming?
New numbers show you’re not alone…
How reflux drugs do REAL harm
Some 60 million Americans have acid reflux at least once a month, according to the latest numbers.
And that’s NOT the worst news today.
Roughly 15 million Americans can’t get through a single day without having to fight off the acid monster.
Stomach acid drugs, especially PPIs, have become some of the top-selling meds in the entire nation.
People just LOVE the darned things – and it’s not hard to see why.
They seem to work like a charm, reducing stomach acid quickly and in some cases down to almost nothing.
And that’s where this plot twist comes into the picture: You actually NEED that acid!
It’s of critical importance to your digestion.
When your acid levels drop, you can run into several SERIOUS health problems. Here are some of the very worst:
- You can’t fully absorb minerals including That leads to weaker, brittle bone, osteoporosis and bone breaks (all of which have been linked to long-term PPI use).
- Another mineral, zinc, is essential to memory and cognition… and that’s why long-term PPI use has also been linked to cognitive decline and dementia (I’ll have more on zinc and memory loss later today).
- Ditto for other minerals including iron and magnesium as well as certain vitamins such as B12, all needed for everything from mood to memory to heart function and beyond.
So today, let me give you two ways to beat reflux WITHOUT harming your natural acid levels or turning to meds…
First up is the simplest one of all: Apple cider vinegar has been used for decades, but has fallen out of favor in today’s pill-for-everything world.
Guess what? It still works.
Mix one tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar into 4-6 oz. of water and drink up after each meal.
And second, go to a health food store or shop online for Swedish bitters, a blend of a dozen herbal remedies proven to help smooth digestion and block heartburn. You can find a few different types, but one I like is Nature Works.
